In December 2010 a group of 20 travel agents flew out to Israel courtesy of the Israel Government Tourist Office, accompanied by Selling Short Breaks and Holidays’ Matt Bonner and Laura Gelder.

Split into two groups, one based in the ancient city of Jerusalem, and the other in the modern seaside city of Tel Aviv, their mission was to uncover Israel’s hidden gems on a week’s tour of the country.

They walked in the footsteps of history in biblical locations like Nazareth and Galilee, stood in awe at the scale of the Roman Empire in Caesarea and Massada, and soaked up the natural beauty of the country, from the blue waters of the Mediterranean coast to the lowest point on earth – the Dead Sea in the Judean Desert.

They also discovered a lively nightlife, feasted on fresh local produce and fine wines in boutique vineyards and experienced the hospitality of Israel, varying from Bedouin tents to slick city restaurants.
